Painterly Hollyhocks
"Let the Paint BE Paint!" The term "painterly" means the paint is not overly controlled. We see brushstrokes, blooms, and edges that were made by the watercolor and not manipulated by the artist. It should be easy, but it is actually very challenging. We like control. We like detail. And we use it too much. This week I try to "let go" and paint a painterly hollyhock. The video is up at www.showcasseartcenter.com now on the video class page. Next week we will paint this hollyhock on Tuesday afternoon 2-4. Tuesday and Wednesday 10-noon are independent projects while painting together. Wednesday afternoon is for newer painters 2-4. Book on the class page to join via zoom. (Video subscription $10/month, classes $25/month). Bask in the blooms!
