Lassoing Lines into Shapes
Quick sketches are fun to practice. Practice loose lines. Break long lines. Scribble the dark areas. The direction of the line should be descriptive of the shape. For example, if the horse has hair which direction does it go? It would look odd if the line went sideways rather than follow the body shape. Next add watercolor. With the right color and value, further define the shapes. This cowboy was drawn on Strathmore toned grey paper. I created the highlight areas by adding titanium white. The video is up now on www.ShowcaseArtCenter.com. We will meet Tuesday and Wednesday 2:00-4:00 PM at Showcase to paint this step-by-step together. Morning paint group will meet 10::00 AM to noon. Let's rodeo! Injury free this way.
