Economy of Line

I was given a portfolio of prints by Craig Sheppard (1913-1978) this week. I loved the lines. Confident line with a variety of thick and thin in a sumi like style involves the viewer to complete the picture. Mr. Sheppard's subject is horses and cowboys, but the style is rather Asian. East meets west. Less is more. This week let us practice brush strokes and beautiful simplified line. Bring plenty of paper as this is a practice thing.
