Rufous Hummingbird

Contrast. Pitting one thing against a different thing. Usually when you think of contrast, you might think of light against dark. Contrast can involve many other opponents. In this painting I pit tight against loose watercolor. The Rufous Hummingbird is detailed and painted in a tight manner, while the background is loose and splattered. The wings beat so fast, how would you create the illusion of movement? Paint this scene live with me Tuesday 2-4 PM MDT. Book your class on www,.showcaseartcenter.com or come to the building in person. Chat starts at 1:30. The video of this and 222 other lessons are on the video channel page (monthly subscription $10 for unlimited views). Tuesday and Wednesday morning are casual paint groups 10-noon. (Classes $25/month or two for $40). Can't wait to see you in class where we create order out of chaos and have FUN doing it.
