Rufous Hummingbird
Contrast. Pitting one thing against a different thing. Usually when you think of contrast, you might think of light against dark. Contrast can involve many other opponents. In this painting I pit tight against loose watercolor. The Rufous Hummingbird is detailed and painted in a tight manner, while the background is loose and splattered. The wings beat so fast, how would you create the illusion of movement? Paint this scene live with me Tuesday 2-4 PM MDT.
